A few weeks ago the Torah scroll was rolled back in Jewish communities all over the world. I have really benefited from the weekly studies so far. Starting in Genesis and moving forward.
To know that God made man, breathed into Him a part of Himself to make Him a living being.
Then the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed ino his nostrils, the neshamah of life; and man became a living being" Genesis 2:7 Neshamah (often translated as Soul, was breathed into man by God.......
And to know that a peace of our Source is in each and everyone of us. We live and we die. We are of heaven and earth....dust and soul.
We are to manifest the heavenly in the earthly....to be vessels by which our Father in Heaven, Avinu Malkenu.......enacts good and His presence throughout the created world.
Its really beautiful. And also, consider this. The tree of life.......the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; we have the choice each day to eat of one fruit or the other. It all starts in the heart, and the choices we make there. Flesh vs the Spirit.
Those are just some random thoughts, but reading the accounts of creation, and this week, reading about Noah and the generations of mankind filling the earth. Its really faith affirming. To believe it literally...and to look at the Sky and think, the God I serve made that, and to look into the eyes of the diversity of humanity and think......He/She is made in God's image and look at the beauty of Noah's children.
I want to leave you all with two songs that I really felt were a blessing throughout this week. One is a famous Jewish prayer. And the other is a contemporary African American Gospel song. Both really really spoke and continue to speak to my heart. Enjoy.
ah, before I forget, its never to late to take part in the reading of the Torah cycle...check out the link below the videos to get the Torah reading cycles schedule. They will even mail you one for free! Shalom.
